Caladan IX - "Bringin' It Home" July 7, 2007 The Story: Once upon a time about eight years ago, there was this party called Dune and ... no, wait! You've heard this story a thousand times. This year though, our story takes a different turn. Caladan has happened for the past eight years. We're on our ninth one. In the history of the desert and renegade party crews, that's an eternity. We've outlasted alot of our brethren and we've seen new crews come and grow. We've seen older crews keep going strong and others slowly fade away. We've been busted by the man. We've lost partners-in-crime. We've been around a long ass time.

They were said to have been some of the best minds of the 19th century. The Raja Mark Zabala and his team of assistants had only recently finished construction of the world's most advanced steam plant, and it had already given the outlaw port of El Pueblo de Los Angeles a significant technological advantage. It was made up of an elaborate array of glass lenses that, once uncovered, would focus the sun's rays tightly on the collected dam water. The tides themselves generated much energy on their own, but the steam generated from the heat of the sun was what made the port the envy of the Victorian Empire. The plant was self-sustaining. There were no workers required to pump wood and coal into boiler rooms. In fact, other than the initial construction of the plant, few natural resources were needed at all. So long as there was sun, wind and water, El Pueblo de Los Angeles would never run out of energy. The Raja's team assembled on the shores waiting for the airship HGS Ecstasy to land. The mercenaries on board were said to have possessed a new invention that would revolutionize the very nature of travel. Tesla's new machine had never been tested before, but in theory, it would overlap any two points in space making it possible to instantly travel from one point to another. However, the Raja had read some of the stolen papers, and he had another theory. With the massive amounts of energy generated from the steam plant, perhaps it would be possible to bend time as well. What was taking that airship so long to land? .:Hipgenesis & Co.
