In true Porter fashion, she told me to quit whining and get a set together. Wracked by nerves, I played my first set in the LA Underground... and that transition was hands down, the best I've ever made. Since then, I've been amazingly blessed to have created and played at some of the finest events in Southern California. I say that for no other reason than it has placed me into a unique family of some of the most inspiring and creative individuals that it has ever been my pleasure to meet. From LA to Mexico and all places in between, we've shared late nights, early mornings, warehouses, canyon getaways, beaches, and probably more than my share of the booze. IF you are reading this, I'm talking about YOU. It is not without a heavy heart that I prep for the big move up to the Bay Area. As it turns out, Yer Carnie Uncle isn't as addled as we thought. U.C. Berkeley is throwing a bunch of money at me to attend and finish up my undergrad with a double major in Philosophy and Religious Studies. Better late than never right? SO I'm moving up to Oakland and getting ready to be buried in books and to work with The Body Rock DJs on getting some Ninja Action going on up there. As cool as that all is, I find that I'm already getting homesick for all my nieces and nephews in SoCal... and I haven't even left yet. The PLUS side is.... it's not like its the MOON. So all my nieces and nephews that come to visit will have some familiar faces and booty rocking beats when you cruise northward. Make no mistake though... the impact that you have all had on my life has been monumental and pivotal to everything I am doing now. I am going to miss you guys. A lot. I'm sure I'll be back to play whenever I can. I'm sure we'll run into each other in SoCal or NorCal. Maybe we'll see each other on the playa.
